My personal favourite is John by Cynthia Lennon. She knew him for a long time and experienced so much with him and I think although he hurt her quite badly she writes about him fairly. I also completely trust the Beatles biography by Hunter Davis as it’s the only authorized one, and there’s a nice chunk in there about John. I’m currently reading All We Are Saying by David Sheff - it’s taking me a while because I’m pretty busy at the moment but I’ll let you know what it’s like, I’ll make a post on here or something :)
